A PET strapping band extrusion line converts PET raw materials into continuous packaging straps through drying, extrusion, cooling, stretching, embossing, annealing, and winding. Each stage needs to maintain a stable material flow so the line can run continuously while keeping strap width, thickness, and strength within the required range.
PET absorbs moisture easily, so raw material preparation plays an important role before extrusion. Moisture can affect melt quality and the mechanical properties of the finished strap. Therefore, the production line normally includes crystallization and dehumidifying drying before the material enters the extruder.
The prepared PET then enters the extrusion system at a controlled rate. Stable feeding helps the extruder maintain consistent melting and material output.
For a continuous PET strapping band extrusion line, the main preparation steps include:
The extruder melts and homogenizes the PET before sending the material through the die. The die forms the melt into continuous flat straps with the required width and thickness.
A melt pump or similar metering system can help maintain a stable flow between the extruder and die. This becomes particularly useful when the line needs consistent output over long production periods.
After extrusion, the hot PET strap enters a cooling section. Controlled cooling stabilizes the initial strip shape before the material moves to the stretching section.
The cooled PET strap does not reach its final mechanical properties immediately after extrusion. The line heats the strap again and stretches it through a series of rollers.
During stretching, the PET molecular chains orient along the length of the strap. This process helps improve tensile strength and gives the finished strap the characteristics required for packaging applications.
The stretching ratio and heating conditions need to match the PET material and target strap specification. For this reason, operators cannot simply use the same settings for every strap size.
After stretching, the strap can pass through an embossing section. The surface pattern provides additional friction for strapping tools and helps maintain stable handling during packaging.
The strap then enters an annealing or heat-setting section. This stage reduces internal stress created during stretching and helps control dimensional changes after production.
After heat treatment, the strap passes through cooling and guiding rollers. The line then sends the finished material to the winding unit for continuous collection. These stages form a connected process rather than separate operations.
Continuous production depends on the coordination of the complete line. A problem at one stage can affect the following stages. For example, unstable feeding can change extrusion output, while uneven cooling can affect stretching behavior.
A typical production sequence follows this order:
Material Feeding → Crystallization → Drying → Extrusion → Filtration → Cooling → Stretching → Embossing → Annealing → Cooling → Winding
For different PET strap widths, thicknesses, output requirements, and raw material conditions, the equipment configuration and process settings need to change accordingly. These requirements also affect the selection and configuration of a plastic strap production line.
A: The line can process suitable PET resin or properly prepared recycled PET materials, depending on the equipment configuration and product requirements.
A: PET can absorb moisture from the environment. Proper drying helps reduce moisture-related processing problems during high-temperature extrusion.
A: Raw material condition, drying, extrusion stability, cooling, stretching, embossing, heat treatment, and winding all affect the finished strap.
A: Many lines can produce different strap specifications by changing suitable tooling and adjusting process parameters. The actual range depends on the line configuration.
